As part of a county-wide cost saving exercise, Cornwall Council concluded that they could no longer afford to provide public toilet facilities, of which Mousehole had two. Rather reluctantly, the Harbour Authority agreed to take on the ownership and running of these facilities and, after protracted negotiations, both public toilets were handed over to the Harbour Authority in July 2013.

The North Pier toilet is open from dawn to dusk, 365 days of the year. The South Pier (Gurnick Street) toilet is seasonal, opening between March and September and also during the Christmas lights display

The Harbour Authority applied for an improvement grant via the Fisheries Local Action Group (FLAG). Again, after protracted negotiation and a lot of form filling, we received 75% funding from EU funds toward the provision of a cool store, a fish handling davit and the development of this web site. The cool store and fish handling davit were installed during the summer of 2013 and the web site went live in early 2014.
