Visiting Craft

The Harbour Authority welcomes visiting yachts, although facilities are somewhat limited. Fresh water is available and there is a free shower at the South Quay toilets for visiting crews during the season, but please be aware there are no refuelling facilities and no power points. There are plenty of places to eat and drink within walking distance of the harbour.

Visiting craft should contact the Harbour Master before, or immediately after entering the harbour. Call 01736 732544, mobile 07944 372289, or visit the Harbour Office located on Fore Street.

Visiting craft should be aware that the harbour dries out and that they should therefore have suitable features (e.g. bilge keels, legs) for taking ground. The sea bed in the harbour is reasonably level and comprises mainly of sand with some small boulders.

Please note – During the winter months, the harbour mouth is sealed off by the installation of huge oak baulks to protect the harbour from the ravages of winter storms, therefore the harbour is closed to all marine traffic. The baulks are normally put in place mid November and raised again mid March using a mobile crane. During the summer months, the baulks can been seen stacked at the end of the South Pier. For more information on specific closure dates please contact the Harbour Master.

Visitor Mooring Fees:

Monohulls – £10 per night
Multihulls – £12 per night
Overland Boats (Trailered) – £15 per week

Mooring & Launching

There are limited permanent moorings available in the harbour. These moorings are restricted to residents of the village and its immediate surrounds and allocation is at the discretion of the Harbour Master.

There are approximately 72 moorings available for small craft and there is currently a waiting list of approximately ten persons.

Any person holding a mooring must pay mooring fees to the Harbour Master at the commencement of each year. Failure to pay may result in the confiscation of the mooring.

Each mooring holder must provide contact details so that the Harbour Master may contact them in the event of an emergency (e.g. during severe weather or in the event of a vessel breaking adrift). The Harbour Master has the authority to move any vessel, either located in the harbour or ashore on harbour property, should he need to do so for reasons of safety or where a vessel is creating an obstruction.

Canoes and Sea Kayaks stored in the harbour bounds are also subject to an annual fee and payment is identified by use of a Harbour Authority sticker attached to the vessel.

Annual Mooring Fees:

Canoes – £50 per annum
Vessels (up to 12ft) – £30 per annum
Vessels (over 12ft) – £100 per annum

Canoes & Personal Water Craft

Whilst canoeists and swimmers are most welcome, please note jet skis, speedboats and divers are prohibited from using the harbour by the Mousehole Harbour Byelaws – for more information CLICK HERE.
